I believe in the spiral of life, in the twisting and turning of our journey’s towards that which our hearts most desire. Often we are blinded by false notions or the stranger with a fancy car who offers a lift in the hopes that it will be faster than walking the road we’re on. Perhaps we aren’t always listening to our intuition or that Divine guidance found deep inside ourselves. I’ve traveled to far away places, found incredible friends and seen fantastic sights along the way. My heart as my guide, she has never steered me astray…as long as I’m listening.
About 10 years ago, I was not paying attention, not living my best life or awake to all that I came here to do. The rhythmic beating inside my chest gave way to skips and starts, she became very weak. Around the same time my sense of smell and taste had also disappeared, no Dr. could figure out why or how to fix it. Over a year had passed with little success in bringing it back. Having no knowledge of options that lay beyond the horizon of western medicine, I succumbed to a harrowing year and a half of tests, surgery and medication, to no avail. I found no joy in food, couldn’t smell the forest I was hiking in and I was in heart failure with a significant arrhythmia, I was 29. On my 30th Birthday I was told there wasn’t much more they could do, aside from another surgery which posed a high risk with no guarantees.
I listened then, my heart, my soul, she had my full attention. I heard that voice deep inside, crying out that there was another way, I just had to find it. Thus began my journey of self-experimentation in the realm of alternative healing. I found Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I tried every “healing” and “holistic” diet I could find…I found Ayurveda. For the first time in my life, my whole body buzzed in wonderment. I spent 7 days steeped in the basics of an ancient science, receiving a different treatment each afternoon. I came home awake, excited. One thing the lovely Ayurvedic Dr. had suggested was energy medicine, a concept quite foreign to me at the time. She felt the Heart and Sinus issues were energetic and could be mended with treatment on a different level (not physical). I spent a month incorporating all I had learned; meditation, movement, herbs and dietary suggestions. I found an energy healer who helped me complete my process. Within a couple of weeks I had total smell and taste, within a couple of months my heart was dancing back into her own rhythm with strength, joy & gratitude.
This experience and others opened my eyes to the healing power we all hold within. That each and every one of us have the power to see inside our beings and shift that which is not in alignment. Often times we just need someone to unlock the door, show us around and hold our hands, our hearts, while we fumble for the light. Through a combination of modalities it is my desire to guide, heal and teach those who are seeking another way, another route out of the shadow they have been sitting in.
I am a Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University. I’ve spent years as a preschool teacher immersed in the wonderment and connection small children possess in everyday life. I have studied under the guidance of Sage Sansone, where I learned the art of Tarot and also use an assortment of Oracle cards in my readings. I am currently studying Massage Therapy, Craniosacral, Prenatal Massage and techniques for PTSD through the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy.
