Ayurveda Practitioners
Megan Murphy-Rouse M.S., C.N.S., C.A.P. is a Certified Nutrition Specialist® practicing Functional Medicine Nutrition and a National Ayurvedic Medical Association Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. She graduated with honors from the University of Western States with a Master’s of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. Her capstone research focused on neutraceutical interventions to treat and reverse endometriosis. Prior to getting her Master’s degree, Megan lived and worked in residency at Mount Madonna Institute, College of Ayurveda, from 2009-2012 when she graduated as valedictorian. Megan’s post-graduate training in Ayurvedic medicine has focused on women’s reproductive health with Dr. Sarita Shresta, AyuMD, OBGYN and the seasoned Ayurvedic midwife, Terra Rafael. She has since enhanced this focus with advanced training in Functional Endocrinology and the Hormone Advanced Practice Module with the Institute for Functional Medicine. Megan’s passion for women’s reproductive health also extends to her role as the co-creator and facilitator of the online course Soulful Conceptions: the Complete Mind-Body Fertility Program which offers a synergistic combination of yoga, psychotherapy and age-old Ayurvedic techniques that naturally enhance women’s fertility. Additionally, Megan collaborated to write the full-length book “Enchanting Beauty,” with Dr. Manisha Kashirsagar (Ayu MD), published with Lotus Press in October of 2015 elucidating Ayurvedic strategies for women to cultivate enduring self-love, genuine self-care, and true, natural beauty that can only come from within. As a whole, Megan’s career in women’s health and empowerment began in 2008 when she worked fulltime with AmeriCorp as a Crisis Services Advocate and Fund Development Coordinator for the Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention Center of San Luis Obispo, CA.
Outside of her private practice, Megan has had the good fortune to serve as a Functional Medicine Nutritionist at Stone Medical P.C., in Ashland, Oregon. There, she has the absolute privilege of being mentored by one of the pioneers in Functional Medicine and Functional Nutrition in particular, Dr. Michael Stone, MD, MS., IFMCP. Megan collaborates with Dr. Stone to lead group medical visits and to consult individually with a wide variety of patients at Stone Medical. In her spare time, you’ll find Megan going on long hikes in Southern Oregon mountains, water skiing on beautiful freshwater lakes, singing together in a circle of women, or sipping Puerh tea (gong fu style) and reading her favorite fantasy novels aloud with her best friend and husband, Andrew Murphy-Rouse and their four-legged firstborn, Zuka, the coolest cat EVER.
