About Ms Colleen Taylor

My interest in health and healing started as a young child when my paternal grandmother, Pearl Taylor, used her hand to “heal” bumps and bruises. I was also surrounded by more traditional Western medicine as my mother, three aunts, and my other grandmother all were registered nurses. I would hear their discussions around the table and was intrigued, but I always remembered Grandmother Pearl’s alternative way of healing. Coming from these two complementary traditions, I studied rehabilitation services at the University of Maine, graduating in 1985, and then was excited to study at the Polarity Realization Institute from which I graduated in 1992. Thus began my journey of holistic health training, healing, and growth.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked in many varied health focused areas: Therapeutic Recreation, Fitness Instructor/Personal trainer, L.L. Bean Employee Wellness Specialist, Consultant for Health Risk Appraisals at L.L. Bean, Healthy Androscoggin Community Outreach Coordinator for Prevention, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Polarity Practitioner, Reiki III Master Practitioner, and Registered Yoga Teacher.

In 2004, following a serious car accident; I found in Ayurveda powerful tools to stimulate my recovery. As a direct result of these transforming experiences I was lead to intensive study at Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Lenox, MA. There I trained with internationally renowned teachers including Dr. Claudia Welch, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Dr. John Douillard, Dr. David Frawley, Dr. Partab Chauhan, Dr. Scott Blossom, Dr. Sunil Joshi, and Dr. Rosy Mann. Following my graduation from Kripalu I engaged in hands on training at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico with direct supervision of Dr. Vasant Lad. This intensive training focused on reading pulses, marma point therapy, clinical assessment and management, and herbs for reproductive health.

I am a professional member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association, Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America, and Kripalu Ayurvedic Practitioner Association.

I believe that Ayurveda truly is nature’s path to healthy living and provides powerful tools to reinvigorate us through careful balancing of our individual constitutions. As we witness changes around us from day to day & season to season, so too, we go through transitions of mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda gives us the tools to create healthy balance, enriching each day while creating a more vibrant way of living.
