Dr. Jessica Vellela

Born, raised and educated in Boston, MA, Jessica Vellela spent nearly eight years in India to become the first American-born woman to graduate as an Ayurveda Acharya (Ayurvedic Physician) and practice independently in India. Jessica is a leading educator in Ayurveda today. Her teaching style, methodology and organization make the complexities of classical Ayurveda accessible to a Western, scientific audience.

Jessica completed 5.5-years of full-time Āyurvedic Medical school in 2012 with First Rank. Strongly motivated to fully experience the power of Āyurvedic Medicine, she partnered with a 25-year, established resort to offer classical Āyurvedic Pañchakarma on a beautiful, private beach along coastal Karnataka, India. She managed this center for over two years with 7 employees, treating patients from around the world and offering unique educational immersion programs for Westerners.

After returning to the U.S. in 2013, she opened her second Pañchakarma center in North Carolina. In 2016, she restructured the Āyurvedic curriculum for Western students to train professionals for careers in Āyurvedic Medicine outside of India. She founded ĀYU Council and ĀYU Academy to raise standards of professional practice and education in the U.S.
