About Skye Roberts Acupuncture & Ayurveda

Skye Roberts is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Board Certified Chinese Herbalist through NCCAOM (National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), as well as a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Reiki Master.

Skye offers a uniquely integrated healthcare approach, drawing on the wisdom of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and her intuitive abilities as a healer.

Her interest in Eastern medicine began while working in Asia, for almost a decade.  Extensive travel throughout India, Nepal, and Tibet, exposed her to the rich traditions of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese medicine, and afforded her the opportunity to experience the benefits first hand. Years later, her passion and personal interest in Eastern medicine transformed into one of focused commitment …learning the science behind these ancient traditions.

Skye pursued the study of Ayurvedic medicine  at the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. Upon completion of the program, she was certified by NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association).   Later, she went on to earn a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM).  As part of her clinical residency at PCOM, Skye completed an internship in Hematology and Oncology at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Currently, Skye maintains a holistic health care practice, integrating Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a modern approach to optimal health.  Skye treats a wide variety of conditions, with a particular interest in internal medicine, mental & emotional conditions, digestive  disorders, pediatrics, and women’s health & fertility.

Acupuncture is based on the theory that a vital energy, called Qi, flows through the body along channels, called meridians.  Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points along these meridians.

In a positive state of health, Qi flows smoothly and unimpeded through meridians.  Any disruption in this natural flow, due to physical or mental stress, for example, causes Qi to stagnate, and may manifests as fatigue, pain or illness. Stimulation of acupuncture points moves qi in the channels, encourages the body’s innate ability to heal, treats disease, and fosters optimal health.

Ayurveda is more than a complete medical system.

It’s a way of life.

Ayurveda is the oldest continuously practiced health-care system in the world, and has its roots in India. Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words: ayus (meaning life) and veda (meaning science), or “science of life.” Ayurveda offers practical guidance on how to achieve optimal health. It teaches us about our unique constitution and how to live in harmony with nature.

Ayurveda treats the individual as a holistic entity, taking into consideration all of the contributing factors of disease- physical, environmental, emotional and mental, to source the root of the condition. This understanding then informs us as to what diet and lifestyle guidance, herbal medicine, seasonal cleansing, breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation, are appropriate for you. The goal of Ayurveda is to empower you on your path to wellness.
